The Best Hypnotherapist in Singapore, Bar None
This article was written with passion by hand, not AI.
The best hypnotherapist in Singapore is me, and the best hypnotherapy clinic is Radiant Flow, isn’t it? 🙂
Blog post ends here. Thank you for reading!
Will the Best Hypnotherapist in Singapore Please Stand Up?
Every day, netizens search for the best hotel, the best egg tart, the best beach. Hypnotherapists aren’t spared from comparisons.
Obviously, every therapist is going to say they are the best of the best. “The bestest!” as we like to say it in Singapore.
Brace yourselves because I’m about to drop a bombshell.
You know those page-one ranking listicles entitled “Best Hypnotherapists in Singapore” or “Top 20 Whatever in Singapore”? The folks who write them never spent a microsecond researching the clinics they featured.
I know for sure… because as my therapy practice grew, I was asked on numerous occasions to be featured. To be their crème de la crème, I can simply pay to play or return the favour.
This is the name of the digital marketing game. Grimy, isn’t it?
How about the reviews and testimonials? Can we trust them?
To some extent, Google Reviews can be trusted. But as with anything in this world, you can pay people for reviews. I too have witnessed this firsthand.
How about the “as seen on Vulcan, 93.8FM, Mothership”?
Sama sama. Anyone can pay to be featured.
Gosh… can we trust anything we see these days?
Who then is the best hypnotherapist in Singapore? Let me offer a wildly different perspective and then share with you the best way to find the best hypnotherapist.
There Exists a Hypnotherapist for Every Walk of Life
Every therapist is trained by a different school of hypnotherapy. Oh yes… there are many hypnotherapy schools and each teaches a tailored syllabus and touts its own philosophy.
Furthermore, some therapists are well-versed in inner child therapy, some are not. Some specialise in past life regression therapy and many are all-rounders.
Many hypnotherapists are also psychologists, psychiatrists, and counsellors themselves. You can bet your life savings that they weave unconventional non-hypnotherapy interventions (e.g., coaching techniques) into their hypnosis sessions.
To further muddy the waters, each therapist comes from vastly different backgrounds. Rarely does anyone start their career as a hypnotherapist. I was previously a cybersecurity professional and a software engineering team lead. I know hypnotherapists who were formerly an HR executive, an IT project manager, and one who’s currently a change management executive.
With what I’ve said in mind, you can see it’s hard to put a finger on the Best Hypnotherapist in Singapore, isn’t it?
Every Therapist a Good Therapist
I shamelessly borrow Mr. Heng Swee Keat’s quote: “Every school, a good school.”
But I’m serious. I genuinely believe that every therapist is a good therapist… for a certain type of profile.
Let me explain why.
First, an individual who has chosen to walk the path of a therapist must have a strong desire in their heart to help others in need. It’s not a job that will make you fabulously wealthy and furthermore, listening to people’s problems every day is mentally taxing. Every hypnotherapist joined the trade with good intention, that’s what I’m trying to say.
Second, for a therapist to be effective, they must first have the skills. Skills are learned in hypnotherapy school and honed with practice. Therefore, any therapist over time will become proficient in their line of work.
Lastly, and most crucially, they must be able to empathise with you. They must be a great listener and provide a safe space for you to pour your heart out without judging you. This mainly happens when the therapist shares your background and has endured the pain you’re currently experiencing.
To better illustrate this, let me share a little about myself. I was once a professional in the tech industry trying to climb up the corporate ladder. For nearly 20 years, I was faced with negative thoughts, anger, early-stage dementia, OCD, anxiety attacks, and innumerable physical pains and symptoms that spiralled me into deep depression.
The vast majority of my clients are, like me, working professionals who are knee-deep in depression, having anxiety attacks, and physical issues. I can instantly relate to their pains. Empathising with clients of that profile is second nature to me.
I am, therefore, the best hypnotherapist for this particular and unique profile.
I may not be the best person to help someone with, let’s say, postpartum depression and other women-related issues. Nonetheless, it’s worth re-emphasising that hypnotherapists are trained to handle a wide spectrum of cases.
Since a therapist attended their own training and comes from a unique background, each will naturally be a fantastic therapist for their type of clientele.
The more pertinent question one should ask is, “Will this therapist be a good fit for me?”
How To Effectively Evaluate a Hypnotherapist
Very simple. Hop on a call with the therapist.
It’s for this reason I make it a point to offer a free discovery call with everyone who comes to me. It’s time-consuming but I want to ensure that my client and I are a right fit, and that they understand how I can solve their problem.
By talking to the therapist, you can get a sense of their demeanour and their nature. You’ll pick up the vibes, and you’ll just know if the hypnotherapist is the right fit by talking to them. And why not clarify your doubts in the process?
The first questions too many people ask are, “What are your rates?” and “How long is each session?” Don’t do that; you’re shortchanging yourself. If the discovery call is free, which is mostly the case, pick up the phone and call. It wouldn’t take more than 10 minutes of your time.
It’s also worth sharing that not all types of hypnotherapy are the same. So get the full scoop from the hypnotherapist and then ask the million-dollar “how much does it cost?” question.
Have You Helped Anyone with So-and-So Problem?
I should address this other frequently-asked question since we’re on a related subject.
“Have you helped hypochondriac people?”
“Have you solved xxx problem before?”
It’s perfectly understandable why people would ask such questions, but they’re not useful ones, to be honest. Furthermore, it’s impractical for a therapist to have handled every problem on the planet, much less your curiously obscure condition.
Hypnotherapist trainees (at least those from my school) are taught to handle a large spectrum of cases, since life throws you curveballs. As part of our training, we are taught a framework for helping the vast majority of people.
However, the framework can only do so much. The real skills the greenhorn hypnotherapist needs to develop and hone are:
- To ask the right questions and get the full picture of the client’s REAL underlying problem, and
- To be exceedingly creative with therapeutic interventions because every client is a unique case.
A seasoned hypnotherapist has keen intuition, the sixth sense, to know what to do when an unusual situation arises. Knowing the right thing to do at the right time basically allows us to handle pretty much any kind of mental or physical problem a person may have.
To further reinforce my point, I’ll explain how I navigate a typical hypnotherapy session. I start the session by getting the client to focus on the problem statement to resurface the emotion. Through the emotion, I bridge them back to its origin.
In other words, the symptom such as anger, fear, hypochondria, OCD, is not the most important thing. It’s the underlying raw emotion that I look for to find the root cause.
A car might emit a strange clanking sound that nobody in town has heard before and knows how to fix. The experienced mechanic knows that an internal part has come loose. By homing in on the adjustable parts of the car, he finds a loose screw and tightening it summarily stops the clanking.
This is exactly how an experienced hypnotherapist operates.
Therefore, asking if the therapist has worked on a particular problem won’t actually help you find the best hypnotherapist.
But you’ll still ask anyway, won’t you? 😉
Who is The Best Hypnotherapist in Singapore (and Some Say JB and Batam)?
You know the answer.
The Best Hypnotherapist is “it depends”. It depends on your background, and not forgetting your personal preference.
When shopping for a hypnotherapist, ask yourself if you can resonate with the therapist and if they’ll be a good fit for your needs.
If my profile feels right to you, perhaps I’m the best hypnotherapist in Singapore… for you. Or maybe speak with any one of Radiant Flow’s hypnotherapists.
Whatever your thoughts are, let’s hop on a call. It’s free and there’s no obligation to sign up afterward. It’s as good as it sounds!
