How to Learn Reiki?

Learning Reiki typically involves attending a workshop under a certified teacher. A Usui Reiki training program provides the basis for this practice. Students will be attuned to the Reiki energy and guided to use the techniques correctly and appropriately.

Reiki studies are best completed at in-person workshops, where you’ll receive hands-on practice. Enrolling in a workshop lends the opportunity to experience Reiki firsthand and develop the necessary skills to perform effective healing sessions.

Can Anyone Become a Reiki Healer?

Yes, anyone can learn Reiki with the right training and dedication. Learning it is the easy part; committing yourself to a daily practice to hone your Reiki skills is the tough part.

A Usui Reiki training course introduces the fundamentals to beginners. This will be taught by a qualified Reiki trainer who has clocked many hours of practice. Attending a structured Reiki healing course provides the necessary guidance, so that you understand the principles and techniques required to practice Reiki effectively.

What Qualifications Do You Need to Practice Reiki?

Reiki does not require formal medical training, but practitioners must complete a Reiki course to be attuned to the Reiki energy and to learn the skills for practicing it appropriately.

Reiki training is divided into 3 levels—Reiki 1, Reiki 2, and Reiki 3—with each level attuning you to new Reiki techniques.

Your journey begins with the foundational Reiki Level 1 attunement, where you’ll learn how to perform physical self-healing and basic techniques. Completing this level alone allows you to perform energy healing on others.

How Long Does It Take to Learn Reiki?

Reiki is taught progressively in stages—Reiki 1, Reiki 2, and Reiki 3. How long each workshop takes varies widely between Reiki teacher, with some choosing to incorporate more hands-on practice than others.

A Reiki 1 can be typically completed in a day or two. The same goes for a Reiki Level 2 course. Sometimes Reiki level 1 and 2 are combined in a single 3-day workshop. For a Reiki course Level 3, or the Master Level, takes 3 days.

Can I Learn Reiki by Myself?

Self-study deepens your understanding of Reiki. However, becoming an Usui Reiki practitioner calls for attunements from a qualified teacher. Only a Reiki Master teacher who has received all the necessary attunements and techniques can attune another individual.

Also, learning from an experienced Reiki Master ensures that you receive proper guidance. This ensures that you harness and channel energy effectively by applying the techniques correctly. For this reason, the hands-on practice in a Reiki workshop is crucial for correcting any mistakes on the spot. These steps are notably absent when you self-study.

Can I Learn Reiki Online?

Online Reiki courses are available and are usually inexpensive. An online Reiki course fees can be as low as $14. It offers the flexibility for those unable to attend in-person training.

The most important part of a Reiki healing course is the attunement. An in-person attunement is often recommended to experience the full benefits of Reiki energy activation. Many online courses offer attunements but we don’t know if they’re actually taking place.

Attending a Reiki workshop online also means you don’t get the chance for hands-on practice which is crucial to learning Reiki. Many online students lack the confidence to do energy healing work due to this reason.

Reiki Levels Explained

Reiki is divided into levels, each building upon the previous one.

At Reiki Level 1, students learn hands-on healing techniques used in self-treatment and healing others. Reiki Level 2 introduces energy symbols and distance healing, while Reiki Level 3 focuses on learning the master symbol and how to use it for transformation work.

Reiki Level 1 and 2 are taught back-to-back by some teachers but the traditional way is to learn each level as separate courses. This isn’t an upselling technique but to ensure that you have the requisite hours of practice before progressing to the next level. In Singapore’s context, it similar to the regulation that permits you to progress to Class 2A motorcycle license only 1 year after receiving your Class 2B.

What is Reiki Level 1?

Reiki 1 training serves as the foundation for all Reiki practice. A Reiki course Level 1 teaches basic energy healing techniques, self-healing, and the Reiki Level 1 attunement process.

In a Reiki 1 class, students learn the Reiki 12 hand positions and channelling to the chakra. These are essential techniques for effective healing sessions and also the most frequently used ones. You’ll also learn techniques for working with physical, emotional, and mental healing.

Upon completion of Reiki Level 1, you can perform physical in-person healing on yourself, family and even pets! Performing distance Reiki will be taught in Reiki Level 2.

What is Reiki Level 2?

Reiki 2 training expands upon the basics learned in Level 1. A Reiki course Level 2 introduces the Usui Reiki symbols that enhance your healing power. These symbols are gamechangers that take your energy channelling abilities to greater heights.

Through the Reiki Level 2 attunement, practitioners can perform distance healing using the distance symbol. With the other symbols, you can also focus and empower the energy, and harmonise it. When the symbols are combined, they enable you to send reiki remotely at greater strengths than what you could do in Reiki 1.

Reiki 2 takes you to the next level such that when sending Reiki to someone, or even yourself, the energy is enhanced and more focused.

What is Reiki Level 3?

Reiki 3 training is the Master Level. To prepare for this workshop, it is crucial to have practiced Reiki regularly for a year. In tradition Usui Reiki, only serious practitioners who have applied Reiki to their daily lives for several years were allowed to be a Reiki Master. Even then, the teacher will vet them before admission.

Reiki 3 is the level where students refine their skills and receive the master symbol. This is the prerequisite to becoming a Reiki Master Teacher. The Reiki Level 3 attunement strengthens your ability to channel energy and empowers you to attune others. You’ll also receive deeper insights into energy work and how to apply the combination of the Usui Reiki symbols in different situations including attunements.

How Many Hours is Reiki 1, 2, and 3?

The time required for each Reiki level varies widely because every teacher value-adds in different ways. Technically, all you need to be a Reiki practitioner is the attunement and daily practice.

Broadly-speaking, Reiki Level 1 typically takes 1-2 days, Reiki Level 2 requires another 1-2 days of training, and Reiki Level 3 can take up to 3 days. It’s not effective to take all 3 levels back-to-back just as you wouldn’t drive a truck after getting your car driver’s license. It’s important to have an extended period of daily Reiki practice before moving on to the next level.

Reiki is a lifelong journey that deepens with practice, providing powerful tools for self-healing and helping others.

How long does it take to be Reiki certified?

To start practicing Reiki, all you need is to attend a Reiki 1 workshop to get the attunement. The rest depends on how far you want to journey on the path of energy healing.

‣Reiki 2: Up to 4 days of classes and ½ year of practice
‣Reiki 3 Master: Up to 7 days of classes and 1½ years of practice

Does it train me to be clairvoyant?

Some people associate a reiki healer with supernatural powers that enable them to diagnose illnesses and problems through clairvoyance. This is pure myth. Taking Reiki classes is not meant for this purpose but to attune you to the universe’s source of energy so you can channel it for healing work.

What are the reiki symbols used in Reiki?

Usui Reiki Tradition forbids practitioners from sharing the symbols. Nonetheless, a quick sweep of the internet will yield you the symbols. We refrain from sharing them they are sacred and not because they are a secret. Cases of misuse have reportedly caused harm to the affected individuals. We implore you to at least receive the attunement and learn how to use it before applying the symbol.

Can I learn Reiki without a master?

Reiki attunements can only be passed down from a Reiki Master Teacher to a student. Hence, it’s necessary to learn from a master. Such an individual has received all the Reiki attunements, learned all Usui Reiki techniques, and has practiced it at length for an extended duration.
